Pendlebury Workplace Law is a specialist workplace relations and employment law legal practice based in Sydney.

Brooke Pendlebury

Having established Pendlebury Workplace Law in May 2006, Brooke brings many years experience in advising employers and employees on all areas of workplace relations and employment law.

She has a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Finance and Marketing, a Bachelor of Laws and a Masters of Commerce majoring in Industrial Relations and Organisational Behaviour from the University of New South Wales.

Brooke is also an adjunct lecturer in law at the University of NSW, the UNSW Business School, the Macquarie Graduate School of Management, and at Charles Sturt University.

Brooke is also an author with Lexis Nexis, an Australian provider of legal documentation, precedent, commentary and research. Brooke develops extensive precedent documentation for Lexis Nexis in the workplace relations and work health safety areas, and provides podcasts.

Brooke works closely with many Councils in NSW and corporate clients providing assistance by conducting external workplace investigations.  Brooke also sits on a number of Code of Conduct Panels for various Councils.

Brooke’s industrial and legal experience is varied and extensive. She has worked as a senior industrial officer with industrial unions in the local government, and public and private health sectors. She has also worked for employer industrial associations as a solicitor and senior advisor & advocate to some of the largest companies in Australia.

Brooke has regularly appeared in the various Federal and State industrial tribunals as well as the Local, Federal Circuit and District Courts.

In addition to industrial and employment law matters, Brooke has a particular interest and expertise in conducting workplace investigations and mediations, and is a member of the Australian Mediation Association.

Brooke also has extensive experience in advising participants in corporate acquisitions and mergers as to employment issues and potential liabilities. She has also worked on work health and safety issues, having defended a number of companies against WorkCover prosecutions.

Brooke provides commercially astute legal advice on employment matters such as executive and employee terminations, enforcement of post employment restraints, as well as sensitive workplace issues including discrimination on the basis of sex, race, pregnancy and age and sexual harassment issues.

Brooke is the first female board member of the NSW Bookmaker’s Co-Operative, she is a member of the Law Society of New South Wales, the Women Lawyers Association of New South Wales, the NSW Industrial Relations Society, and she was a representative on the Greyhound Racing Industry Participants Advisory Committee.

In 2011, Brooke was recognised in the Doyle’s Guide – Best Australian Law Firm as a “Rising Star” in workplace relations law.
